Heirlooms of UCN History #62
by Will Frank
The orders of service of the Unitarian Church of Norfolk in 1940 carried on the back page a set of notices that appeared week after week. This page was full of clues to the character of the church. This is what it said:
THE CHURCH OFFICE
The Church Office, 15th Street at Moran Avenue, will be open daily from 9:00 A.M. to 12. The telephone number is 43115.
THE MINISTER
Mr. Sonen will be in his study at the Church every morning between the hours of 9:00 and 12:00. His house number is 3807 Granby Street (A-5), and his telephone number is 45797.
INFORMATION REQUESTED
Mr. Sonen will greatly appreciate prompt information concerning cases of illness or homes where a call by the minister of this Church is desired. Do not hesitate to give him this much needed information.
TO VISITORS IN THE CONGREGATION
We welcome you to our Service and hope that you will come again. If you are not a regular attendant elsewhere, we extend to you a cordial invitation to make this your Church home.
THE CHURCH SCHOOL
The Church School is meeting in the Social Hall at 10:00 Sunday morning. There are graded classes for children and an Adult Class to which all are invited.
OUR BOND OF UNION
In the freedom of truth and in the spirit of Jesus we unite for the worship of God and the service of man.
