Living in the House of Yes

Cyndi Simpson, Minister, with Jane Dempsey, WSA

Our second and third UU principles call us to affirm and promote the "acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations," and to a "free and responsible search for truth and meaning." What do those principles require of us as Unitarian Universalists in community – regarding our beliefs, our relationships, our social justice work?

Reparations

Cyndi Simpson, Minister, with the choir and Vickie Caminer, WSA

The subject of providing reparations to African-Americans for the crimes of slavery and the Jim Crow era remains controversial. On this day celebrating the heritage of Martin Luther King, Jr., let us begin to consider the idea of reparations together - thoughtfully and carefully and lovingly - from our perspective as Unitarian Universalists.

Border Stories

Cyndi Simpson, Minister, with Martha Shore, WSA

This will be the second service on immigration issues this church year, in preparation for our UU General Assembly 2012 in Phoenix, Arizona. The first service raised some of the facts and issues about why we should be concerned about what is happening in Arizona and other states. This service will focus on stories of people affected by and involved in these issues, taken from the book The Death of Josseline: Immigration Stories from the Arizona-Mexico Borderlands.
